www.froknowsphoto.com/should-your-camera-shoot-without-a-card This is a tip for everyone with a DSLR. One of the first settings you should change in the camera even before you set it to RAW is to turn on the CARD LOCK in the menu. What this is doing is making sure that you do not shoot any pictures without a memory card in the camera. You would think it defaults to this but for some reasons it doesn’t. I learned my lesson very early on when shooting film when I forgot to load a roll of film and started to shoot. I probably took about 20 shots before I realized I did not have film in the camera. So do yourself a favor and LOCK that bad boy up so you don’t make the same mistakes I did!!! Automatic and fully automatic? Did you mean semi-auto?
@JaredPolin when is this coming?
can you do a comparison vid between 17-55mm f/2.8 from either nikon and canon?
Haha nice intro
I live in Chantilly!!!
The only reason I ever turn that feature off was to demo units in stores when I didn’t have a card on hand.
@JaredPolin I will have about $800.00 next week or a $1000.00 in 2 weeks. I’m looking to get a nice upgrade from a E410 10 MP.
@3rcflyer its an old camera do not buy it. What is your budget?
Hey fro quick question, I want to switch from olympus to canon, maybe nikon. Tired of going in camera stores and all I see is canon or nikon. Know olympus stuff in the store. My question is I was looking at a canon 1d, no mark 1,2 or 3, just the 1D. On e-bay there going for 6 to 700 dollars!!, why!! it’s a 4.1 MP camera, I just don’t get it.
agree 100% about the lock
@octofrye Yup, i will be working on that video soon as I have been using the d3x all week and have likes and a few interesting observations to bring you you guys.
@rockergrrrl i’m surprised someone knows me ,but, no i bought it 8 months ago
I’d be interested in seeing a D3s vs. D3x comparison video.
@lorikzzz Didn’t you just get a D300s?
Hello Jared!
I’m on deviantArt. Can you take a look to my pictures please?
my site is gubolasdotdeviantartdotcom . I use a Nikon 3000
That happened to me before. I was going to take some pictures at a birthday party, and didn’t realise I forgot my card until I took about 3 pictures. Your ringtone is awesome!
There was a lady that came into my local camera store, that admitted to shooting an entire wedding with no card. Im guessing she doesn’t have a
Great tip. I didn’t know you even had the option to change this setting.
i shot my neighbor point blank between the eyes with an airsoft, he bled.
Guess it’s there if you shoot in tethered mode and just save your image on your computer or when you want to clean the sensor, last one I’m not 100% sure you need that option on or not tho.
But anyway you (or at least Canon) have a big sign that say NO CARD on the display.
Good advice, My camera the 40D does warn you that there’s no card, however it’s only on screen when you power up. If you take a picture it’ll even show a preview but there will be no picture.
Turn that lock folks.
i can’t wait for my D3s
@lorikzzz nope just playing with one for 2 week.
Did you get a D3X ?
